Robert and Agnes Thomas
Robert Martin Thomas, 89, of Belleview, Florida passed away August 29, 2020 at his home. Agnes Irene Thomas, 86, of Belleview, Florida passed away a short two weeks later on September 14, 2020. They were married 66 years.
Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio a son of the late Martin and Celia Thomas. As a young adult, Bob raced dirt track motorcars and later owned racing boats. As a Miami Police Officer, he was a member of the Miami Harbor Patrol and the motorcycle precision drill team. Off duty, he also helped provide security for concerts, driving for movies and had small parts in Black Sunday and The Godfather Part 2. He retired from the Miami Police Department after 23 years of service in 1977. Bob built his house on Smith Lake, and later built a successful golf cart repair business. His hobbies included fixing things, grilling and being on the water.
Agnes was born in Tampa, Florida to Paul and Jessie (Biggs) Shepard. As a child, Aggie enjoyed playing with her five brothers and sisters, Paul, Mary, Bob, Charlie, and Jimmy. Aggie worked for a few years as a medical receptionist. But like many women of her generation, being a full time wife and mother was her vocation and passion. She worked to make every holiday special, and every family meal memorable. Her hobbies included bird watching, feeding the Smith Lake sand cranes, watching football, and listening local and national news.
Robert and Agnes are survived by daughter Melinda Stewart of Belleview, FL, and son, Gary Thomas (Cari) of Arlington, VA. They were the grandparents of Katherine MacKay (Brian) of Anthony, FL, Andi Viola (William) of Chesapeake, VA and Donald Stewart of Ocala, FL.
The family will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420 on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a joint Funeral Service at 11: 00 AM. Margaret Honor Barnard
Margaret Honor Barnard, 86, of Belleview, Florida, passed away September 21, 2020 at Superior Residences in Ocala, Florida.
Margaret was born in England, a daughter of the late Jack and Gladys Tomkins. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the Marion County School System as a Computer Lab Technician.
Margaret is survived by sons, Malcolm Barnard of Belleview, FL and Graham C. Barnard of Los Angeles, CA and a brother, Geoff Tomkins of England.
