Mary Lou Sharbaugh

Mary Lou Sharbaugh, 78, died Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Mary Lou was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and was a long-term resident of North Huntingdon, PA, where she raised her family and was a homemaker.  She and her husband Joe were “snowbirds” and enjoyed their retirement spending winters in The Villages, Florida.  In The Villages she enjoyed golfing, square dancing, spending time with her friends in the Red Hat Society and cheering on her favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  In May 2020, she moved to Altamonte Springs, FL, where she was lovingly cared for by her sons Shawn and Mark.

She is survived by her daughter Sheree Sharbaugh; sons Shawn Sharbaugh (Mark Hammonds), son David Sharbaugh (Paige); daughter Joelle Winterhalter (Mark); brothers Ronald Opielowski (Carole) and Thomas Opielowski. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brock, Braden and Bailey Sharbaugh and Ryan, Allison, Adam and Erik Winterhalter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Sharbaugh, parents Frank and Mary Opielowski and brother Mark Opielowski.

A viewing was held on April 22, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-Belleview, 5946 SE Robison Rd., Belleview, FL 34420.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on April 23, 2021, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, FL. Burial followed at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Larry Stuart Abshier

Larry Stuart Abshier, 81, of Cocoa, Florida passed away April 15, 2021 at his home in Cocoa, Florida.  He was the husband of Zelma Abshier, who he met when they were only  teenagers.

Larry was born in Ocala, Florida and raised in Belleview, Florida, and retired to Cocoa in 2005. Prior to his retirement, he spent most of his career in sales. A son of the late Lou and Edith Abshier of Belleview, he graduated from Lake Weir High School, in 1958.

Larry is survived by his wife, Zelma Hammons Abshier and daughters, Lori Abshier Ray and her husband, Buddy of Cocoa, FL, Lisa Abshier Land and her husband Milan of Ocala, FL, Linn Abshier Benton and her husband Butch of Ocala, FL, and brother, Loren Abshier of Belleview, FL. He has 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Lou and Edith, and son, Linc Abshier.

Larry devoted his life to his loving wife of 62 years, his 4 children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was an avid fan of Florida State Football, and he loved to hunt and fish.  His greatest achievement, other than his family, was managing, his semi-pro baseball team, the Ocala Jets, who won the State Championship for 4 years.  Larry will be truly missed, but his love and devotion to his family, will live on through the memories he left behind in all who knew and loved him.
