Harold Edward Ostrand

Harold Edward Ostrand, 95, of Ocala, passed away on April 27, 2021 at Estelle’s Hospice House, Ocala, Florida. He was the husband of Dolores H. Ostrand who preceded him in death on February 18, 2016.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Fred and Alice Ostrand.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served proudly during World War II. He was member of Local 21 Bricklayers Union in Chicago.  He enjoyed his membership in the American Legion and held leadership roles in the Smith Lake Shores Homeowners Association for many years.  Harold lived at Marion Woods and was active with the community there as well.

Harold is survived by daughters, Connie Goodrich of Ocala, FL, Karen Zeller of Denver, CO and son, Mark Ostrand of Carol Stream, IL. He has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by his beloved Mary Jascenia.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, FL followed by Military Honors in the church courtyard.  Inurnment will follow at 2:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.  Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview, FL.  Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com

Betty Ruth Zappa

Betty Ruth Zappa, 73, of Ocala, Florida passed away April 27, 2021 at her home with her loving family. She was the wife of Arthur Zappa for 52 years.

Betty was born in Cleveland, Ohio a daughter of the late John and Sada Rednour. Prior to her retirement she was a Nanny for many years.  She is a member of Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church, Belleview, FL.

Betty will be deeply missed by her husband, Arthur Zappa and son Tim Zappa and daughters, Kim Zappa-Jackson and her husband Jim Jackson of Canton, GA and Angela Jeter and her husband Chris Jeter of Belleview, FL.  She adored her grandchildren Tyler Zappa, Nicholas Zappa, Rhiannon Zappa, Harrison Davis and Logan Davis.  She has 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She is also survived by sisters, Sally Hallmark, Darlene Golden and brother, Rev. John Rednour.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Rena Adkins and Joan Gray.

The family received friends at Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church, Belleview, FL on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM. Funeral services were at 12:00PM on April 30, 2021 at Souls Harbor First Pentecostal Church followed by interment in the Belleview Cemetery, Belleview, FL.  Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-Belleview.  Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com. Peter David Crick

Peter David Crick, 89, passed away on April 26, 2021, at his home in Summerfield, Florida.  We have lost a bright, vibrant man who leaves behind a legacy of helping others.

Pete was born in Aberkenfig, South Wales on September 1, 1931, the third son of Cyril and Eunice Crick. The family immigrated to the United States in 1948, settling in South Euclid.  Shortly thereafter, Pete was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a medic during the Korean War.

He retired from Lubrizol, in Wickliffe Ohio, as supervisor of the chemical lab.  He spent many years there and was proud of the accomplishments he and his team achieved.   An avid fisherman, he was a charter boat captain for many years, in Port Clinton, Ohio.

Pete and his wife, Lily, moved to Florida in 2001 – first to Naples and then settling in Summerfield FL where they thoroughly enjoyed their retirement.  There he was an active member of the Fishing Club in Del Webb Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club. Pete and Lily were passionate in their love of cruising throughout the world.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Leslie Barnes of Painesville, Ohio; and his son, Vincent Crick (Melanie), of Columbus, Ohio; and stepchildren Kathy Harvey (Tom) of Virginia Beach, VA, Terry Myers (Sherri) of San Diego CA, Ray Myers of Mentor OH; and Melissa Spencer (Brent) of Virginia Beach VA. In addition, he leaves behind grandchildren, Jeffrey Barnes (Nicole), Bryan Barnes (Kari) and many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His sister, Jennifer Graham (John) of Painesville OH and Summerfield FL. also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lillian, and his brothers, John Crick, Douglas Crick, Brian Crick, and his sister Nerys Crick.

Although there will be no calling hours at Pete’s request, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview, FL.  Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com.
