ALFRED TORCHIA

Alfred Torchia, age 92, of Ocala, FL passed away on July 1, 2021, at the Estelle’s Hospice House, Ocala, FL.  He was the husband of the late Christine Torchia who preceded him on October 4, 2019.  They had been married 67 years.

Born in Calabria, Italy he was a son of the late Frank and Rosa Torchia.  Alfred was a resident of White Plains, NY then settling in Cold Spring, NY prior to coming to Ocala in 1979.  Prior to his retirement he was in residential and commercial construction.  He was a member of Local 137 Operating Engineers, a Volunteer Fireman for North Highland Fire Department and former owner of Mama Rosa’s Italian Restaurant in Cold Springs, NY. He loved farming, raising animals, was an avid hunter and loved to build things.

Alfred is survived by his daughter, Rosemarie “Ro” Riddle and her husband, Paul of Ocala, FL and son, Joseph Torchia and his wife Florence of Ocala, FL.  He was the grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 15 children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine and sons, Alfred C. Torchia and Frank Torchia.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 12:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, Ocala, FL. Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420. In lieu of flowers donations to Estelle’s Hospice House, Ocala, FL in Alfred Torchia’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com.

Glenda Faye Bond MacBlane

Glenda Faye Bond MacBlane, 78, of Belleview, Florida, passed away at her home surrounded by family on June 25, 2021. She was born August 3, 1942 the daughter of the late Mitchell Curtis Horn and Lillie Bell Testerman. Glenda was born in Inez, Kentucky and resided in Belleview, Florida since July of 1984. Glenda worked at Lockheed Martin starting in 1984 and retired after 20+ years. In her free time, Glenda enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and feeding the birds, especially her favorites red birds (Cardinals) and humming birds. Glenda also loved decorating her household for all seasons, especially Christmas. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses but her favorite hobby of all was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glenda was a lifetime member of the Belleview Fraternal Order of Eagle’s and Belleview VFW where she served as Madam President for the Eagle’s and helped organize charity events.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; first husband of almost 30 years, Archie Bond; second husband of 20 years, Jerry MacBlane; siblings, Fran, Debbie, Rose, and Mitchell, Jr.; and her beloved dog, Oddie.

She is survived by her children, Timothy (Connie) Bond, Melissa Bauer, and Kevin (Heather) Bond; step-daughter, Kelly Packer; siblings, Sue, Dottie, Sherry, Keith, Jack, and Jimmy; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many unofficial adopted family members and friends who left tracks in her yard making it look like there was a county fair held there!!

A funeral service for Glenda was held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 1 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services (910 E Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470) with Chaplain David Butts officiating. Burial was held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with a Celebration of Life  following at the Belleview Fraternal Order of Eagle’s (8350 E Highway 25, Belleview, FL 34420). Visitation was held at Hiers-Baxley, Ocala on Wednesday, June 30 from 5:00pm til 7:00pm.
