Geralda Collins Martin

Geralda (Gerri) Collins Martin, 93, of Summerfield, Florida passed peacefully away on August 7, 2021, at her home on Bird Island in Summerfield, Florida.

Geralda was born in Liberty, Kentucky the oldest daughter of the late Chester and Ruby Hoskins. She attended Georgetown College in Kentucky where she met her husband Paul Whitney Collins. Together they had four children. Paul Steven Collins, Paula Suzanne Collins-Butzer, Barbara Diane Collins-Guilfoil (deceased), and Scott Whitney Collins.  After Paul’s death she married Earl H. Martin in 1980.

Geralda had her Master’s Degree and was an educator for over 35 years teaching in Ohio, Kentucky and Florida.  Her teaching career in Florida lasted until retirement from Lake Weir High School.  In addition to teaching Gerri was an avid reader and member of the Friends of the Library.  She loved to play bridge with several clubs and never missed an opportunity to “drum up a game” or fill in as a substitute.  She participated in various educational and community organizations holding offices in many of them. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Gerri was an accomplished seamstress and loved being involved with her close friends in their S & B club where they not only created many “master pieces” but traveled together throughout the United States on a multitude of adventures.

Geralda is survived by her sister, Paula Rose Bertsch; her children-Steve, Scott and Suzanne; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services were at 11:00AM. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ocala, FL. Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com.

Charles Norman Vowinkel

Charles Norman Vowinkel, a 43 year Ocala, resident, died peacefully while surrounded by his loving family, on August 15, 2021. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, with his identical twin brother Russell and sister Carol.

Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years and best friend, Mary Ellen. They were blessed with a daughter, Michele (Peter husband), and two sons, John and Paul (Kristi wife). Their children further blessed Charles and Mary Ellen with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Charles devoted himself to God, his family, and his country. He instilled patriotic values at home and beamed with pride about Michele’s service in the Navy and John and Paul’s Army service. Charles protected his family and others through his decades of law enforcement service. He served as the Chief of Police in Belleview, an investigator with the Florida State Attorney’s Office, a Florida State Probation officer, and was a sworn deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s office.

Charles relished teaching as a rangemaster in both firearms and driving and taught criminal justice courses at the College of Central Florida. He was an Eagle Scout, Master of his Masonic Lodge in Buffalo, Theta Chi President, and an ordained Elder at Fort King Presbyterian Church. Charles will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, unfailing courtesy, humility, and kindness to all he met.

A visitation will be held at Ocala First United Methodist Church, 1126 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470 on Friday, August 20, 2021, from 6-8pm.  A funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Ocala, 511 SE 3rd St, Ocala, FL 34471 on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 2pm.  Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, following the service. Lamar Andrew Marshall

Lamar Andrew Marshall, 33, of Belleview, Florida passed away July 30, 2021 at Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Florida.

Lamar was born in Brooklyn, New York to Andrew and Sheryl Marshall. He was an automotive mechanic. He enjoyed country music, trail rides, and truck shows.

Lamar is survived by his parents, Andrew M.  and Sheryl Marshall of Belleview, FL and brother, Dwayne Marshall of Belleview and significant other, Kelsey Leighton, kids, close friends Dani & Nick Wesney from Oreilly Auto Parts, and friends & family from US & Barbados.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at teh First Baptist Church of Belleview, 6107 SE Agnew Road, Belleview, FL 34420.

Virginia P. Chelednik

Virginia Pauline Chelednik, 83, of Belleview, Florida passed away at her Belleview Florida home. She was the wife of Frank Chelednik who preceded her on November 14, 2020. They had been married for 64 years.

Virginia was born in Elizabeth, West Virginia and moved to Belleview, FL 17 years ago. Her family was her joy.

Virginia is survived by, daughter, Karen Harvey of Belleview, FL, son, Daniel S Chelednik and Sue Peterson of Olmstead Falls, OH, daughter, Robbin Hilbert and her husband, Greg of Wilmer, AL, son, Edward F. Chelednik and his wife Margaret of Wilmer, AL and daughter, Michelle E Chlad of Belleview, FL.  She leaves behind 38 grandchildren and great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

The family received friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420 on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services were at 1:00 PM on August 17, 2021, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview with The Reverend Doug Green officiating. Interment will be at Belleview Cemetery.
