Harriett Drilling

Harriett Drilling of Ocala, FL passed away September 6, 2021. She was born April 6, 1933 in Crawfordsville, IN. Harriett graduated from Bosse High School, Evansville, IN in 1950 and received a BS in Education from the University of Evansville in 1953.  In 1958, she earned a master’s degree from Indiana University.  Harriett was a public school teacher and librarian/media specialist in Indiana and Broward County, FL for 30 years.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Honorary Society for Women Teachers. She held offices in the Florida Education Association, National Education Association, and Florida Association of School Librarians.

After retiring in 1985, Harriett and her husband, Tom, moved to Ocala, FL to be near their daughter, Christine, and three grandchildren.  Harriett was actively involved with the Pioneer Garden Club of Ocala and the Marion County Audubon Society. She grew roses and orchids and loved creating plays or games for her grandchildren.  She was a long standing member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Smithsonian Institution. She supported the Red Cross, PBS, St Jude’s for Children and many political candidates.

Harriett and Tom loved to travel and made it to 6 continents and all 50 states.  Harriett’s love of museums, botanical gardens, and biographies never waned.  Above all, Harriett and Tom enjoyed spending time with their family. Harriett had a big, beautiful smile and never lost interest in the activities of her family or current events.  She instilled in her family the value of a good education and being a good citizen.

She is survived by daughter Christine (Bob) Gianna of Ocala, FL. Survivors also include three grandchildren Jennifer (Stephan) Ginzberg of Marietta, GA, Rob (Laura) Gianna of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Rebecca (Andrew) Havlir of Orlando, FL; as well as seven great-grandchildren Dominic, Ella and Vincent Gianna, Grace and Hazel Havlir and Emily and David Ginzberg; and many nieces and nephews.  Harriett was preceded in death by her parents General Carl O. and Eunice DeBard; her husband of 66 years Thomas Drilling; and her brother Colonel Robert L. DeBard.

VICKIE ROSE BROWN

Vickie Rose Brown, 66, of Belleview, Florida, passed away, August 25, 2021 at Ocala Regional Hospital after a two week battle with Covid pneumonia.

Mrs. Brown, was the loving wife of Larry R. Brown for 19 years.

Original from Weston, West Virginia she was a member of the Church of God in Belleview, FL and Living Waters Church in Ocala, FL and a member of Beit Hallel Messianic Jewish Congregation in Ocala, FL. She worked at Walmart and Sam’s Club for 20 years in WV and Ocala.

Survivors in addition to her husband Larry Brown, are two sons, Scott Rinehart and wife Christina, and Mike Rinehart both of Weston, WV; one step daughter, Samantha (Brown) Hartmann and husband matthew Hartmann of Alabama; four grandchildren, Tiffany Rinehart, Danielle Rinehart, Valerie Eberly and husband Christopher Eberly and Austin Rinehart; two step grandchildren, Declan Hartmann and Oliver Hartmann; one great grandchild Wesley Eberly three siblings Tom JR Facemire and wife Doris of WV, Paul Facemire and wife Rhonda of WV and  sister Robbin Nicola, Belleview, FL whose husband passed away Aug. 19, from Covid also.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

LARRY NICOLA

Larry Nicola, of Summerfield Florida passed away on August 19,2021.

Larry was born in Parkersburg W.Va. And has one surviving sister Donna Thompson of Davisville WVa.

Larry leaves behind his wife, the love of his life & soulmate of 47 years, Robbin Nicola. 2 sons Larry D. & wife Tasha, Shawn A. & wife Michelle, 6 grandchildren, Cordell, Faith, Jeremiah, Noah, Hunter & Robyn. 3 great grandchildren Brantley, Arrow, Zayden.

He was an ordained pastor, prior Military where he worked with munitions as well as being a master marksman. He loved his family and served his country with pride. He loved to fish & hunt as a past time. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren, he was the best father & grandfather any child could ask for. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.

DONA A. MOSS

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Dona Alice Moss, 93, passed away September10, 2021 in her home. She was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved to Michigan after marrying her true love, Clarence, in 1950. She spent most of her adult life in Michigan, until they moved to Florida to retire in 1996. Dona and Clarence celebrated 64 years of marriage until his homegoing in 2014. She was known for her great love for God, her family, and her friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Disbrow (Warren, 2015) of Leesburg, FL, son Kevin (Sherrie) of Colorado Springs, CO, son Kirk (Deborah) of New Brighton, MN, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, 3:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake, Florida, she will be interred at later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
