James B. Hite

James Bernhard (Jimmy) Hite, age 83, passed away on July 27, 2022, in Monticello, Georgia as the result of an automobile accident. Jimmy was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 15, 1939. He was the son of the late James Edwin and Gladys Anderson Hite. At the age of four months, his family moved to Miami, Florida to begin work on his grandfather’s dairy farm. Jimmie graduated from Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee, and attended Tennessee Technical University in Cookeville, Tennessee where he studied Dairy Husbandry. He married Jimmie Carolyn White from Waynesville, North Carolina in 1961. Jimmy and Jimmie moved to Summerfield, Florida in 1964 and it was there that they made their life and raised their family.

Jimmy worked for the family dairy farm, Summerfield Jerseys, for twenty years. He was a leader of the Sumter County 4H Dairy Club for many years throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s, and spent countless hours teaching his 4H students to select, groom and show dairy cattle. With his family in tow, he traveled hundred of miles hauling cattle to various shows across the state. He later worked for the Marion County School Board as a substitute teacher and classroom aide with self contained ESE students. Jimmy’s passion was always his cows, and he maintained a a small herd that he cared for daily until the time of his death.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jimmie White Hite of Summerfield, FL; sons Marshall (Diana) Hite of Ocklawaha, FL, and Josh (Dori) Hite of Weirsdale, FL; sister Mary Hite Moody of Summerfield, FL; and grandchildren A.J. Hite of Summerville, SC, Cassie (Ben) Kaspari of Sheldon, ND, and Jacob Hite of Weirsdale, FL. He also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren, Hannah Hite and Gwenneth Hite of Summerville, SC, and Joshua Kaspari, Emily Kaspari and John Kaspari of Sheldon, ND and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held for Jimmy on Saturday, September 24th at 4 pm at First Baptist Church of Oxford (4060 County Road 108, Oxford, FL) with Pastor Andrew Krop officiating. A reception and meal will follow in the Family Life Center.

 James “Jim” Howard Geer

James “Jim” Howard Geer was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He left this world on September 2, 2022 at the age of 85.  He was born to Carl and Minta Geer in Columbus, Ohio on June 26, 1937.  After graduating high school, he served in the Air Force for nine years.  After his military service, he worked as a plumber for the majority of his life.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister Jane Edmister , brother Wayne Geer, daughter Rebecca Geer.  He is survived by his wife, Sharon Geer, daughter Brandy Demes and son-in law Michael Demes, son Erickson Geer, son Randall Geer, son Daniel Geer, daughter Deborah Geer, brother Robert Geer and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Celebration of life will take place at the Forest Lawn Memory Garden located at 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala Florida 34480 on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 1pm.
