Jerry D. Owens

Jerry d. owens (71) of garland, texas, left this world suddenly on Friday, october 14th, 2022.

Jerry, was born in dallas, texas on novemeber 3rd, 1950.

He graduated from mclean high school in mclean, va in 1968.

jerry, was a veteran who served in the us coast guard. he was an active member of the Lake pointe church in Rockwall, texas. He resided in texas for most of his life

jerry, was a huge lover of the outdoors and enjoyed visiting  3 of his daughters and their families in upstate ny. the Adirondock mountains held a special place in his heart.

jerry, also enjoyed spending time with his love joan, watching tv  together laughing and talking. He enjoyed woodworking and in his younger life riding Harleys. he also enjoyed  going for walks and cooking.

Jerry, had a huge heart, a strong embrace and a kind smile.

He was predeceased by his parents william and clara owens.

He leaves behind his companion of 12 years  Joan curtis; two sisters, shirley Durant (lorin) and pamela evans. four beautiful daughters, sara (al); katie (aaron); jesie (harrison) and samantha. as well as his sons christopher owens, adrian lewis and matthew eccles.

jerry, will be missed so much by all who knew and loved him

The celebration of jerry’s life will  take place wednesday, novemeber 16th at 1 pm at reflections of rest haven, at the rockwall location.

Inurnment  will take place thursday, novemeber 17th at 1pm at the dallas fort worth national cementery.

Hudson Lee Cross

Hudson Lee Cross, 82, of Summerfield, Florida passed away October 24, 2022 at Estelle’s Hospice House, Ocala, Florida.  He was the husband of the late Margaret Cross who preceded him on February 19, 2003.

Lee was born in Plant City, Florida, a son of the late Vernon and Ruth Cross.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. He was a kind and gentle man.

Hudson is survived by a sister, Linda Essary of Goliad, TX and a brother, Robert Strahan of San Antonio, TX, his companion, Helen Bullman Baker of Summerfield, FL and sister-in-law, Louise Sager of Belleview, FL and a son Michael Cross.

Inurnment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on November 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM.

Contributions in Lee’s memory may be sent to Hospice of Marion County.

James Dexter

James Dexter, 73, of Summerfield, Florida passed away October 24, 2022, at his Summerfield, Florida home. He was the husband of Lisa Dexter for 35 years.

James was born in Kewanee, Illinois, a son of the late Keith and Dorothy Dexter. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.  Prior to his retirement he was a sales manager in the baking industry.

Jim enjoyed his work and spending time with family and friends.   Jim’s work in sales let him enjoy what he loved, traveling, and meeting new people. Jim never met a stranger and had the unique ability to make everyone laugh.  He loved spending time at the Beach, taking cruises, and fishing.  Jim was a loving husband, amazing father, and adored grandpa.

James will be deeply missed by his wife, Lisa Dexter and daughters, Kim Price and her husband Tim of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Femali and her significant other, Jeff of Atkinson, IL., Meredith Higgins and her husband Chuck of Soddy Daisy, TN. Brother Keith (Donna) Dexter, Sister-in-law Diane Dexter, He has 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Dexter, sister Barbara (Gordon)Boeji, grandson, Samuel James Bomleny.

Max Fayen

Max Fayen, age 88, passed away peacefully and went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 29, 2022, at The Brandley House in Summerfield, FL, with his loving wife, Carolyn, by his side.

Max was born January 2, 1934, in Lancey, France to Camille Fayen and Martha Huberk Fayen.  Camille was from Cherry, IL, and Martha was from Lancey, France.  Max was an only child, and the family moved to the United States in 1941 settling in Mendota, IL.  Max graduated from Mendota High School in 1952 where he played both football and baseball.  After high school, Max joined the US Airforce where he honorably served four years as a scheduler.

After the Airforce, Max met Carolyn and they were married in 1959 in Peru, IL. Max was an entrepreneur and enjoyed several successful careers throughout his life.  He started as a barber, owning a shop in Palatine, IL.  He owned a motel in Plymouth, IN, and eventually spent many years selling commercial real estate.  After leaving real estate, he followed his passion and became a successful investor in the stock market.

In 2002, Max convinced Carolyn to move to Florida, and they settled in Summerfield.  Since then, they have enjoyed many cruises and traveling.  They returned to Max’s home country of France several times.  He also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and achieving Ruby Life Master Status.  Max was an avid fan of Cubs baseball, and all Notre Dame sports.

Max is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn; two daughters Suzanne Rosencrantz (Chadd), Sheryl Wible (James); three grandchildren Carmen Knox (Doug), Sarah Winter (Ryan), Brad Wible (Hannah); and three great grandchildren Camille Knox, Harrison Knox, and Caleb Winter with one more great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Fiona.

William Irvin Curtis

William Irvin Curtis, 87, of Silver Springs, Florida passed away October 30, 2022, at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Florida. He was the husband of Barbara Curtis for 38 years.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Lester and Mary Curtis.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  Prior to his retirement he was a Vocational Auto Paint and Body Instructor at Vanguard High School and Community Education Coordinator for Marion County School District. He loved working on computers and could fix anything mechanical. He was a man of faith who loved his family, his country and considered it an honor to serve in the U.S. Air Force.

Bill will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara Curtis and son, William Alan Curtis and his wife June of Inverness, FL and sister, Jean Marie Barrett of Belleview, FL. and daughters, Pamela Bright and her husband Michael of Silver Springs, FL and Julie Barham and her husband Jackson of Ocala, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leo J. Curtis.

Robert L. McKnabb

Robert L. McKnabb, 83, of The Villages, Florida passed away October 26, 2022, at his home in The Villages, Florida. He was the husband of Mary Frances McKnabb for 53 years. Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Claude and Margaret McKnabb. Prior to his retirement he spent 33 years as a police officer for the city of Chicago. Robert and Mary moved from Chicago to Florida in 2000. He enjoyed playing golf and swimming.

Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Frances McKnabb and daughter, Tara McKnabb of The Villages, FL and sons, Robert R.  McKnabb of New Port Richey, FL and Michael McKnabb of the Villages, FL. He has 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers William McKnabb and Lawrence McKnabb and sister, Eileen Brault.

A Funeral Mass will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, FL on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420.
