LaVerne Griggs Scroggie, 80, went to be with our Lord sand Savior on January 1, 2023. LaVerne was born and raised in Marion County and spent most of her lifetime living there. She was a caring and compassionate person that touched the lives of many. She loved the lord and was deeply devoted to her faith. She was an active member of The Garden Worship Center.

LaVerne loved being a devoted Mother and Memaw, cooking, sewing and crafts. She had a passion for gardening and would spend may hours tending to her flowers. She was a small business owner in Belleview  for 37 years; Volunteered with countless organizations, Kappa Chi Sorority, Monroe Regional Hospital for 7 years at the information desk; Operation Shoebox, 8 years; Feed the Homeless of Marion County; Garden Worship Center Thrift Store; Samaritans Purse; Christmas Child Shoebox. She made between 600 and 700 a year a project she enjoyed the most.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and generosity that will not be forgotten.

LaVerne is survived by her daughter Tasha Humphries (Greg); her sons, Michael Scroggie and Bryan Scroggie (Megan); Grandchildren Matt and Andrew Humphries, Gwyndolyn and Neville Scroggie.

A celebration of life will be held at The Garden Worship Center, 12740 SE County Hwy. 484, Belleview, FL, at 11 am Saturday, January 14, 2023

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to The Garden Worship Center or Samaritans Purse.
