Firefighters Battle Ocala Structure Fire
At 4:55pm, fire rescue units from Marion County and Ocala Fire Rescue were dispatched to 5560 NW 39th Lane, Ocala. Multiple 911 callers reported that smoke and flames were visible from the house. They reported one person was in the structure.
Rescue 12 was the first unit to arrive on scene at 5:01pm, reporting smoke and flames through the roof. Multiple suppression units arrived on scene to make an aggressive attack on the fire. Engine 20 deployed multiple lines to fight the fire. As firefighters were inside, the roof collapsed over the garage. All firefighters were accounted for and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews made an exterior attack on the fire calling it under control at 5:19pm. One resident was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
