Southbound I-75 Blocked Due To Jackknifed Semi-truck, accident

At approximately 6:04 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue’s Engine 4, Rescue 4, and Battalion Chief 11 responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on I-75 Northbound. Units arrived to find two single-vehicle crashes – (1) one involving a pickup truck hauling a moving trailer and (2) another involving a semi-truck. Although no apparent injuries resulted from either crash, there was extensive damage to the guardrail and a semi-truck blocking the outside lane of traffic over exit 352 on I-75 NB.

Two hours later, at 8:31 a.m., Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer were dispatched to I-75 Southbound for a third incident. This time, units found a jackknifed semi-truck and a pickup truck on its roof on Highway 27’s overpass (exit 354).

The driver of the pickup truck was ejected, leading to a trauma alert being called. Crews packaged the patient and transferred care to Marion County Fire Rescue Medic 20 for transport.

The semi-truck driver had no injuries to report.

All Southbound lanes were blocked.

The Road Ranger Service Patrol and the Florida Highway Patrol also responded.

Traffic on I-75 is still affected in both directions. The public is encouraged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
