Fire Rescue Battles Boat Fire
On July 18, at 2:25pm, MCFR units were dispatched to reports of a boat fire located at 20080 SW 81st St, Dunnellon. The 911 caller reported that their neighbor’s boat was on fire, on a trailer in their yard. The boat was 20 feet from the house and 10 feet from the wooden fence.
Battalion Chief 5 arrived on scene at 2:28pm, established command and completed a 360 degree inspection of the fire ground. Firefighters from Engine #22 arrived on scene, deployed the front jump line and began extinguishing the fire and protecting the tree that was exposed. The fire was quickly extinguished, with command calling the fire under control.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
