Fire Rescue battles house fire
On Saturday, August 19, at 8:51pm, MCFR units were dispatched to the 19400 block of SW 82d Place Road, Dunnellon. The 911 caller reported the home was on fire, people were possibly trapped and the flames were through the roof.
Rainbow Springs Engine #22 arrived on scene at 8:55pm to find the house 70% involved in flames. Firefighters deployed a hoseline to the front door and began an aggressive interior attack on the fire. Dunnellon Engine #3 arrived on scene, established water supply and assumed command.
Battalion Chief 5 arrived on scene, assumed command and requested a third tanker and additional engine company be assigned. Command pulled everyone from inside the home an went into a defensive fight of the fire. Additional firefighters from Station #12, Station #31, Volunteer Station #25 and Station #16 arrived on scene to assist in extinguishing the fire.
The fire was called under control at 9:29pm. No injuries reported to firefighters or civilians on the scene. The home owner was not home at the time of the fire. The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
