On Sunday, October 1, 2023, our community showed up in droves to help show support and raise money to help Cody Grissom, 27, a life long resident of South Marion county. Cody is a young husband and father of a 6 month old, adorable little girl, Reagan. Approximately three months ago, Cody was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer, which is rare at his young age. Cody diagnosis has left the family with mounting debt and has changed plans for their future.

The benefit started at noon and continued throughout the day at Licciardello Farm at 1800 SE 160th St, in Summerfield, with plenty to keep the large crowd busy and entertained. The much anticipated Corn Hole Tournament started at 2:00 PM. A BBQ plate with Brisket or Chicken was available for $20 a meal, there was a Dunk Tank, a Bounce House, raffles, an auction, there was prayer, and laughter, and a ton of hope.

The next benefit for Cody Grissom is a Poker Run on Saturday, October 14, 2023 starting at Pirats Oasis at 19240 SE HWY 42 in Weirsdale. The route is through the woods and offers some fantastic scenery. There will be an auction, a 50/50 drawing and a benefit dinner to follow at Krazy 8s. Rain or shine, they will ride! Kick stands up at 10:40 AM. Since Cody’s diagnoses a lot has changed for him, his wife Kaytlyn and their family, they continue to fight for Cody, in any and every way possible, they are Grissom Strong!
