The Lake Weir Hurricanes football team is on a roll. One week after coming from behind to defeat their rival Belleview in an exciting regular season finale, Lake Weir took down visiting Interlachen High School in the first round of the Atlantic 2A Division Playoffs.
What started as a tightly contested game, with both schools exchanges blows for touchdowns early, ended with the Hurricanes pulling away comfortably from Interlachen for a 34-14 victory.
Lake Weir now looks forward to Friday’s game, where they will again play host, against Stanton College Preparatory School of Jacksonville, Florida. The game will take place at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 3 in Candler.
The stakes this week are even higher, with the winner being crowned the Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA) Division 2A Champion. The Hurricanes will rely heavily on rushing yard leader Jackson Quick, as well as receiving yard leader Jamani Morales, leading tackler Jacob Cooper, and sack leader Amiel Raymond. Safety Trenton Woods has had quite a season as well, recording four interceptions.
