Firefighters rescue driver pinned in SUV

On January 2 at 6:10pm, Marion County Fire Rescue reports that units were dispatched to reports of a 2 vehicle accident, with one vehicle rolled over. Multiple 911 callers reported the accident at the intersection of NE Jacksonville Road and NE 56th Street, also stating one person was entrapped.

MCFR Engine and Rescue #1 from the Anthony Station arrived on scene at 6:18pm, established command and completed a 360 degree inspection of the accident grounds. Firefighters immediately deployed extrication equipment to begin freeing the trapped driver. Heavy Rescue #2, Battalion Chief #1 and Medic #61 arrived on scene to assist. Crews began extricating the patient at 6:24pm and completed extrication at 6:31pm. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
