The Lake Weir High School Band, led by Band Director, Micheal Jennings, was invited to the New York City, St Patrick’s Day Parade in March of 2024. This invite is a great honor, the LWHS Band is working hard to make this dream a reality. It costs about $1000 per band member to make the trip to NYC and there are 100 band members, so that means, the LWHS Band needs to raise $100,000 to make this trip happen.
Recently the first fundraiser was held, a grilled Chicken Dinner, pick up only, at the Belleview Masonic Lodge at 5871 SE Baseline Road in Belleview. The Chicken Dinner came with baked beans, green beans, a roll.
The Lake Weir High School Band would like to thank the cooks that volunteered their Sunday to help them get closer their goal, Billy Schwingel and Noah Carroll, a LWHS student and volunteer whose Dad, Dennis Carroll assisted him. A big thanks to the sponsors of this dinner: Taylor Transportation Services, Belleview Meats & Seafood, Sonny’s BBQ in Belleview and Walmart in Summerfield. A huge shout out to the Belleview Masonic Lodges No 95 for hosting this dinner. All proceeds from this dinner go to the band members trip to New York City, this fundraiser raised $2,100 in just one day.
