Marion County Public Schools aware of “district wide threat” made on social media

Early Thursday morning, Marion County Public Schools released a statement regarding threats of gun violence circulating on social media.

The statement, released on the Marion County Public Schools Facebook page, said that:

“We are aware of a district-wide threat made on social media to multiple schools. Local law-enforcement is investigating and at this time believes the threat poses no immediate danger.”

“We continue monitoring the situation and working with law enforcement to catch the person responsible for this disruption. Should updates be necessary, we will share more information via Skylert messaging and social media.”

The threats made, reportedly circulating on the social media platform Snapchat, can be seen below.
