MCFR Successfully Shields Homes During Marion Oaks Brush Fire

On January 25, 2024, MCFR swiftly responded to a significant brush fire threatening residences in the 8300 block of SW 139th Lane Road, Ocala. A 911 caller alerted authorities to a yard fire encroaching on a home.

Upon arrival at 11:58 am, Battalion Chief #4 observed a substantial column of smoke. BC#4, on the scene by 12:07 pm, directed Stations #24, #31, #32, and #5 to secure structures and combat the fire. Additional support from Forestry, including two dozers and a brush truck, swiftly reinforced the efforts.

Crews efficiently battled the flames, safeguarding structures before transitioning to extinguishing the brush fire. Forestry units contained the fire. By 1:47 pm, the situation was under control, with 3-5 acres burned. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.
