Impaired driver arrested with .258 blood alcohol level

In a proactive move to ensure road safety, Marion County Sheriff Corporal Beccue conducted a routine traffic stop in the area of Bay Road and SE 113th Street Road after observing a vehicle speeding. What initially seemed like a standard traffic enforcement took a serious turn when the driver, identified as Lanny Easterday, exhibited multiple signs of impairment.

Upon recognizing the potential danger, Corporal Beccue promptly called for assistance, bringing Deputy Peguero to the scene to aid in the DUI investigation. As the investigation unfolded, it became evident that Easterday was indeed impaired. Without hesitation, law enforcement took decisive action, placing Easterday under arrest and transporting him to the county jail.

The gravity of the situation became apparent when Easterday provided a breath sample, revealing a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .258—well above the legal limit. This alarming level of impairment underscored the potential dangers that were averted through the vigilant efforts of Corporal Beccue, Deputy Peguero, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest serves as a reminder of the commitment of law enforcement to keep our roadways safe from impaired drivers.
