Impaired Driver Faces Charges After Fleeing Belleview Police with Child in Car

On March 10, 2024, at the 10700 block of US Highway 441, Shayla Keora Jackson, a 37-year-old female, committed multiple offenses, according to Belleview Police.

Jackson is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated fleeing and eluding of law enforcement, reckless driving, child abuse, and driving under the influence. The incident unfolded when Belleview Police attempted to stop Jackson’s vehicle. Instead of complying, Jackson allegedly fled from law enforcement.

During the pursuit, Jackson purportedly operated the vehicle recklessly, with a 6-year-old child inside who was unrestrained by any safety belt or other passenger safety devices. Police say her actions posed a significant risk of serious physical or mental injury to the child.

Following her apprehension, Jackson provided a breath sample at the Marion County Jail, which revealed a blood alcohol content level of 0.247.
