Ocala Man Arrested for Sexual Battery on Minor

A local man has found himself behind bars and accused of particularly heinous acts.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Major Crimes Detective Henrik Osthed arrested Randy Dale (W/M, DOB: 03/27/1998) for Sexual Battery on a Child between 16 and 17 Years of Age, Interfering with Child Custody, and 11 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

On March 24, 2024, Corporal Boileau responded to the 16-year-old victim’s home in reference to a series of inappropriate messages and images sent to and received from Dale, in which engaging in unlawful sexual activity was discussed. Further investigation revealed that Dale sent explicit photos to the victim and received images depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from her.

Corporal Boileau was also shown messages between the two that indicated Dale sexually battered the victim on March 4, 2024, as well as photos of a fictitious marriage license and adoption papers. On March 26, the victim ran away from home and it was discovered that she was with Dale, who then begged the victim’s father not to notify law enforcement. MCSO was notified of the victim’s disappearance, at which time the victim called to report that she was at the Marion County Fire Rescue station on Highway 326 and returned home. The following morning, the victim’s mother discovered that the victim had run away with Dale again.

Deputy Palmateer later located Dale and the victim walking on foot, at which time they fled. He ultimately recovered the victim, and Dale was taken into custody for questioning. During the interview, Dale provided contradicting statements about the nature of his interaction with the victim. He ultimately admitted to receiving images depicting CSAM from the victim, sexually battering her, and being with her when she ran away from home with plans to harbor her from her parents.

Dale was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he remains.
