Belleview Police To Join Law Enforcement Torch Run

On Friday, April 5th, local law enforcement officers will join together and carry the Special Olympics Florida torch as it passes through Marion County. The Belleview Police Department will be represented by Officer Juan Ortega during the run.

The 2024 Law Enforcement Torch starts at the Publix off of Highway 42 and travels 26.8 miles to the World Equestrian Center. The purpose of this event is to highlight law enforcement’s support of Special Olympics Florida and to raise funds for their summer games.

Belleview’s section of the Torch Run will start at Highway 441 and SE Baseline Road, just north of Gary Yeomans Ford. From this point the run will go north on Highway 441 all the way to Publix.

• Run starts at 8:00 AM at the Publix located at 8080 SE 165th Mulberry Ln.

• Runners are expected in the City of Belleview at approximately  9:00 AM; Hwy 441 at SE Baseline Rd (Mile 7)

• The Belleview portion will reach Publix at approximately 10:00 AM (Mile 9.4); This will be Officer Ortega’s end point, as he will be returning to his duties as SRO at Belleview Elementary School.

• The run will continue north on Hwy 441 into Ocala and ultimately end at the World Equestrian Center (Mile 26.8).
